Complete Digestive Stool Analysis Course

This course teaches students about biomarker/microflora evaluation that is assessed as part of this test.

Complete Digestive Stool Analysis Testing: How can testing improve patient outcomes?

In recent decades, the understanding and research of how gut flora and gut habitat impact overall health have come into mainstream understanding. Natural medicine has always been at the forefront in appreciating how gut health can cause and improve disease presentation. It is important, as natural medicine practitioners, that we appreciate and understand fully the medium that has underpinned how we practice.

In this course you will learn how to understand and evaluate Complete Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA) testing. This test is your bread and butter when it comes to testing a patient’s gut health. A CDSA test is essentially the same as a Stool Culture & Parasitology (the term used for medicare [Australia] rebated stool culture testing). The only difference being that in certain CDSA tests, you can also test for useful gut biomarkers that tell you how well a patient is digesting and lots of other useful information.

You will learn how to understand these tests and what to look for when you receive results. You will also learn which biomarkers are useful to test for in certain patients and which are not.

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Macro/microscopic appearance
  • Short Chain Fatty Acids
  • Specific Digestive Biomarkers
  • Bacteriology
  • Mycology
  • Parasitology
